I grew up in Upstate New York (The Adirondack Mountains), and was part of a family of educators. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a teacher. I can't think of anything more exciting than seeing the joy on a child's face when mastering something new or becoming inspired to rise to the challenge.
I attended the State University of New York, College at Brockport, where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and my Certification in Elementary Education. I also obtained my Master's in Elementary Education with a Specialization in Literacy. I began my teaching career in Western New York where I taught both Kindergarten and First Grade for six years. I then relocated to Long Island, where I have been teaching for eleven years. As a life-long learner, I have continued my education and have received my Gifted Education Extension, a certification for Students with Disabilities, and a Certificate in Educational Computing. I now have had experience teaching Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade,Third Grade, Gifted Education (grades 3-6), and High School Science Research.
My hobbies include reading, hiking, camping, and living a life of exploration!
